The ECoC programme of Rijeka
Rijeka is the European Capital of Culture this year. A press conference took place in the future Children's House of the city, gathering the representatives of the city's cultural institutions and the company Rijeka 2020 with the head of the Department of Culture Ivan Šarar and the mayor Obersnel.
This press conference announces the cultural and artistic programme of May and June "colored by measures of reduced social contacts and ban on public gatherings". Within this programme, ballets, concerts, theatre innovate regarding the social distancing. Each performance comes to life in a specific and new way, in different locations in the theatre but also outside the theatre building, across Rijeka. A drive in movie takes place in May, organized by the Art Cinema and the Filmaktiv association. The exhibition "Neizvjesna izložba/The Uncertain Exhibition" in the Creation Cultural Center comments on the current situation and the new reality in which we live, while at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art the exhibition COVID19 addresses the same topic. And, the Rijeka Civic Library has also opened its doors with the prescribed protection measures.
